چکیده
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness percutaneous peritoneal drainage (PPD) as a treatment option for high-risk perforated peritonitis in tertiary care hospitals. Methods: This prospective investigation conducted at multiple centres including Department Surgery, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College / Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur and Jinnah International Hospital, Abbottabad from August, 2022 January, 2023. Patients with accompanied by shock or who did not respond initial resuscitative protocols were included study. primary spontaneous bacterial those history previous abdominal surgeries excluded. evaluated PPD peritonitis. Chi Square test applied assess association keeping P value < 0.05. Results: mean age 54.81±9.2 years, male patients 66 (57.9%) while female 48 (42.1%). Regarding mortality after 25 (21.9%) died, 15 (13.2%) died definitive surgery. Mortality significantly associated systolic BP 90 mmHg comorbid. Conclusion: Based on our findings, we have determined that is crucial procedure can potentially save lives lead improved outcomes undergoing laparotomy. Moreover, it has potential enhance their preoperative condition. Keywords: High risk patients, Primary drainage, Perforation

Risk factors and outcomes of high peritonitis rate in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients
Peritonitis remains a major complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD). A high peritonitis rate (HPR) affects continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients' technique survival and mortality. Predictors and outcomes of HPR, rather than the first peritonitis episode, were rarely studied in the Chinese population. In this study, we examined the risk factors associated with HPR and its ef...
متن کاملThe utility of peritoneal drains in patients with perforated appendicitis
BACKGROUND Intra-abdominal abscesses are the most common complication after perforated appendicitis and remain a significant problem ranging in incidence from 14 to 18%. Drainage following appendectomy is usually determined by whether the underlying appendicitis is simple or complicated and largely determined by the surgeons' belief, based on expertise or personal opinion. In this report we dis...

Despite advances in therapy based on increasing understanding of the attendant haemodynamic and metabolic derangements, together with the use of antibiotics, diffuse peritonitis remains a life-endangering condition. The mortality rate of diffuse faecal and biliary peritonitis is still about 50% (Dawson, 1964; Means, 1964). Some surgeons believe in cleansing the peritoneal cavity at operation wi...
